Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT)
The most significant aspect to this project was the sheer size of the building, when you pulled up in your car you wanted to continue on past the car park and enter the building without stopping, well how else would you get around such a vast warehouse. At 450 metres long it takes a considerable amount of time to walk from one end to the other - we estimate the size is in excess of 12 football pitches!

Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal

The expanse is so impressive but then what else would you expect from Tesco’s new distribution centre in Daventry with access to the rail freight terminal, M1 and M6 it’s perfectly positioned to take Garments and white goods all over the country in time for Christmas and the new year.

RBC Ltd are the key building control provider for the Daventry ‘DIRFT’ Central project on both the shell & fit out, one of many projects we’ve been involved with for John Sisk & Son Ltd. We managed and delivered the project on time and within budget and achieved excellent working relationships with the team through regular site inspections.

Daventry International Rail Freight TerminalWe also took a pro-active approach and liaised with the Fire Authority in order to achieving a fire engineered solution as a result of the complexity of the project.

Kestrel Way,Woking

At the time of construction this was the largest warehouse to be constructed in Woking. The building, due to its size, fell within the parameters of the Local Surrey Act 1985. RBC successfully negotiated the fire safety strategy with Surrey Fire and Rescue Service balancing the measures required at shell and fitting out
stages. RBC was commissioned to examine the shell construction only.

The building comprised of sprinklers that accommodated for excessive travel distances for means of escape in case of fire and smoke ventilation activated upon a dedicated fire alarm system. The building was successfully completed within the construction programme deadlines.
