Denmark Street, Altrincham
John Sisk & Son Ltd The project comprises of a four storey detached building combining mixed use areas of cinema auditoria and concourse, two restaurants and an office suite plus an underground car park. The building control commission was to provide approval for the shell build only with the internal fit-out work approved separately.
The building is sited on a sloping site within a constricted site boundary and access is shared with an adjoining development of residential apartments. The cinema auditorium is set at ground floor level with a communal fire escape platform and stairs at the rear.
The fire strategy was developed from early discussions with the contractors, J Sisk and their architects Ellis Williams Partnership. Due to the requirement for simultaneous evacuation for all compartments it was necessary to design minimum widths for all corridors, doors and staircases for maximum occupancy as suggested within the guidance of BS5588-6: 1991 and to ensure that all areas are served with an alternative means of escape.

Charterhouse Street, London
This was a conversion of a listed 5 storey warehouse, to provide nightclub facilities in the basement and a range of restaurant options from the ground floor to the top penthouse suite. The construction consisted of retaining much of the timber and cast iron with the innovation of having the timbers treated to provide fire protection. The designer wanted the clientele to see the old beam timbers so that the place would retain the warehouse feel.
