The aftermath of the fire at the Grenfell Tower has affected how Under-Writers for PI Insurance look at the potential risks. This is currently making them look at anyone connected with fire safety with very suspicious eyes, tainted with little enthusiasm to provide PI cover.
We are delighted to announce that RBC has been granted Constructionline Silver Member accreditation. Design and Build Contractor - MTX
RBC have worked on numerous projects with modular healthcare specialist MTX, throughout England and Wales, to create fast delivery ward space, clinical department extensions and additional operating theatres. The above project provided a new endoscopy unit and twin operating theatres for the hospital and was completed on site in under four months.
RBC have been appointed by John Simpson Architects to provide full Building Control services for the prestigious commission to redesign the Royal College of Music in South Kensington. The project is valued at £25 million and will transform the Grade II Listed Building. The project involves basement, sub-basement, lower ground, first and second floor extensions in a former courtyard that links part of the Royal College of Music together and form a new museum, bar, cafes, two new theatres and practice rooms. The effects on the existing fire compartmentation and means of escape needed careful consideration and justification and RBC have worked closely with the Architects, JSA, and the Fire Engineer to achieve this.
One of RBCs clients that use us to provide the full building control service for alterations to their theatres is the Delfont Mackintosh Theatre Group and this includes the following theatres, Prince of Wales, Prince Edward, Queens, Wyndham, Noel Coward, Sondheim (Ambassadors) and Gielgud and now the Victoria Palace Theatre. We have covered the building work in most of these Theatres, some of it of a minor nature, but other work has been involved with much larger theatre projects.
The building control approval for the Hinkley Point C nuclear site and the ancillary workers campuses and enabling work is being carried out by a private Corporate Approved Inspector, Regional Building Control Ltd.
Their appointment by edf (NNB) covers all the buildings which are not directly either regulated by the Office of Nuclear Regulation or are exempt buildings.
RBC have previously worked with edf on the construction of their nuclear training facility at Cannington Court, near Bridgwater.
The ancillary campuses and the park and ride facilities will provide accommodation and facilities for the construction workers for the main power station.
RBC Managing Director, Colin Jackson explained that being engaged in the construction of a major nuclear power station is a first for a private Building Control body and is a reflection of our expertise, professionalism and management skills. We are immensely proud to be a part of this project.
