Kew Gardens Arboretum Building
We have been appointed to provide Building Control services for a new two storey timber framed building that is intended for timber research, the intention is that it will not be open to members of the public but mainly will consist of laboratories and offices. This building is now on site and at the last RBC site inspection the main structure of the building has been erected, insulation is in place and the roof has been completed. As far as possible everything is constructed of timber, including the internal partitions and stairs.
The site is located well into the Kew Gardens area and to visit the site RBC have to be collected from the main Kew Gardens gate in an open sided golf buggy type vehicle and on the day of RBC’s recent site visit lorry loads of fresh manure had just been delivered to a storage area close to the site, this not only had a strong smell but it was still steaming as though it was on fire and we had to drive through this.
